Asian and Australasian fossorials, poorly resolved taxonomically, and a genus that functions in the trade as a holding bin for animals that will eventually be moved elsewhere.
Moderate to large, burrowing, old world in temperament, and generally drab with some bronze or gold iridescence on fresh molts. Husbandry is straightforward: depth, warmth, and leaving them alone.
Be careful with names here. A meaningful share of what sells as Selenocosmia has been described into other genera or was never properly identified, and locality labels are doing more work than species names. Paying a premium for a specific Selenocosmia locality is usually paying for a collector's shorthand.
