1 species

American curtain-web spiders, the family's most widespread New World genus: prolific sheet builders from Texas through South America, quick at the funnel mouth and industrious everywhere else.

The keeping is the standard family program: anchor points, layered silk accumulating over months, moderate humidity, prey to the sheet. Some species tolerate loose communal arrangements when fed well, which is rare in the family. The bite is minor; the webbing is prodigious.

They breed readily where anyone tries, which keeps the structural price low, and the genus inherits the family's standing mismatch: spectacular silk output, minimal fame, durable underpricing, all because none of it is a tarantula. Within the curtain-web shelf this is the accessible entry, available more often than its relatives and easier than all of them.
