Domino roaches, T. petiveriana, and they break most of the assumptions people hold about roaches.
Round, glossy black with bold white spots, active during daylight rather than hiding from it, and burrowing into substrate as nymphs. They come from dry Indian scrub and want a drier setup than the tropical species, with sand mixed into the substrate.
They breed more slowly than Blaberus or Eublaberus, which keeps prices above feeder-roach levels and makes them a display purchase rather than a colony investment. Availability is decent. Of everything in the roach section of this site, this is the one most likely to change someone's mind about the group.
