Genus Coromus

1 species Coromus — commonly said as KOR-oh-mus

West African flat-backed millipedes: broad, low-slung animals whose flanged segments give them an armored, trilobite-like profile unlike the cylindrical giants around them.

The keeping is standard detritivore practice with a humidity lean: deep substrate, abundant decaying hardwood and leaf litter, calcium, stable moisture. Docile and long lived, with the flattened profile as the entire display.

The African millipede import wall shapes availability as it does for the whole continent's fauna: US supply is thin and provenance-dependent, European keepers see the group more freely, and wild adults arrive at unknown ages. Flat-backed millipedes as a class trade on shape rather than size, to the corner of the millipede hobby that collects morphology, and this genus is its West African representative.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
