The spider beetles: tiny, globular, long-legged scavengers that look convincingly like miniature spiders and live like pantry archaeologists, working through dry organic debris in slow motion.

Keeping is a culture, not a display: a small sealed container, dry substrate with grain and detritus, and near-total neglect. Colonies tick along for years. The animals are harmless, flightless in the kept species, and fascinating mainly at magnification.

The market is a curiosity trade at curiosity scale: occasional listings, minimal prices, and a buyer pool of invertebrate completists and the microscopy-inclined. Established cultures produce surplus indefinitely, which caps the price at approximately the cost of the container. The genus sells strangeness by the gram, honestly.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
