Genus Hemiblabera

1 species

The horseshoe crab roaches: broad, domed, burrowing island roaches of the Caribbean, wingless and tank-built, kept as colony curiosities rather than feeders.

They live in and under deep substrate, emerging to forage, and colonies establish steadily on warmth, cover, and fruit-and-grain feeding. Docile, flightless, non-climbing on smooth surfaces, and long lived for the class. The dome is the display.

Colony economics govern the price: established cultures produce surplus, capping what sellers can ask, with modest premiums on the less common species eroding as cultures circulate. The genus trades to the roach-keeping niche that values form over function, and a starter colony remains, as everywhere in that niche, a one-time purchase.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
