Genus Hyporhicnoda

2 species

Small South American burrowing roaches, kept as cleanup crews and colony curiosities rather than display animals, and traded thinly under locality labels.

They live in and under the substrate, processing decaying matter, and they tolerate the humid conditions of tropical bioactive enclosures better than the common cleanup species. Colonies establish slowly compared with the workhorse feeders but hold steady once going. They neither climb glass well nor fly meaningfully, which keeps containment simple.

The market is small and structural: established colonies produce surplus, which caps what any seller can ask, and the genus's obscurity keeps the buyer pool to bioactive keepers with specific needs. Identification at the species level depends on the seller. A starter culture is a one-time purchase, and the genus is infrastructure rather than a display decision.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
