Genus Hadruroides

2 species

Peruvian and Ecuadorian scorpions of the dry Pacific slope, moderate in size, sandy-toned, and mild enough in venom that the keeping conversation is about habitat rather than risk.

They want arid setups with a humid retreat, burrow or shelter readily, and run hardy once established. The sting is a bad moment rather than a medical event, which places the genus firmly in the beginner-appropriate tier alongside the North American vaejovids.

South American export restrictions shape the supply: material moves irregularly, captive breeding is thin, and listings appear in small clusters with gaps between. Species identification leans on locality more than morphology at the trade level. The genus fills a specific niche, a South American scorpion without South American medical stakes, and the small steady market prices it as exactly that.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
