Genus Janalychas

1 species

Small Asian bark scorpions, marbled and slender, carrying two traits that define the keeping and the market respectively: venom worth genuine respect despite the size, and parthenogenesis in the widely kept species, where a single female populates an enclosure unassisted.

Sealed housing and forceps maintenance lead, because the family's venom does not scale down with the body. They climb, which makes the lid the enclosure. Warm, sheltered setups with bark suit them.

Parthenogenesis caps prices permanently: every kept female produces surplus, any scarcity is temporary by construction, and an escape is potentially a population rather than an animal. The genus trades at a low price and reproduces without a male, which is exactly the profile where the venom warning matters most.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
