Slender Asian and African bark scorpions, marbled and quick, carrying the buthid family's standing warning: venom well above what the size suggests, in a group where small bodies and serious stings travel together.
They climb, which makes the lid the enclosure, and they tuck into bark and crevices in warm, sheltered setups. Sealed housing and forceps maintenance are the protocol. Several species reproduce by parthenogenesis, one female becoming a colony, which caps prices wherever it occurs and raises the stakes of any escape.
Asian supply moves in small pulses with soft species identification, and the genus trades at the inexpensive end of the medically meaningful shelf, which is precisely the combination that catches unprepared buyers and precisely why the venom warning comes first.
