Genus Brachionopus

Old World 1 species

South Africa's lesser baboon spiders: small, heavily setose burrowers that shadow Harpactira the way dwarfs shadow giants, and almost never reach the trade.

Fossorial, quick, and inclined to hide before threatening, which makes them the retiring end of a family not known for retiring. Old world in full: no urticating hairs, and venom undocumented at genus level, treated as significant by default. No handling. Dry substrate with depth.

South African export restriction plus genus-level obscurity produces a doubly thin market: small founder base, small buyer base, sparse listings priced without anchors. The species-level names are soft in trade, and locality words carry most of what identification exists.
