Genus Euthycaelus

New World 4 species

Venezuelan and Colombian members of the schismatotheline cluster, a group that sits oddly in the hobby's usual categories: New World, but with reduced urticating equipment and a temperament closer to the flighty dwarfs than the calm terrestrials.

Small to moderate, webbing, quick, and undemanding otherwise. The oddity is taxonomic as much as behavioral, and the group's placement has moved more than once.

Venezuelan export has been effectively closed for years, so circulating stock descends from older European lines on a narrow founder base. Listings are sparse, priced without anchors, and carried by a handful of breeders whose provenance is most of the identification. Obscurity, not difficulty, is the whole market structure.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
