New World 3 species

South American terrestrials, mostly Chilean and Peruvian, and home to H. sp. 'Blue', which spent several years as one of the more expensive tarantulas in regular circulation.

Small to moderate, terrestrial, calm, and slow, in the way most animals from that part of the continent are. The blue on the good specimens is real and it holds through adulthood, which is what justified the original prices.

That price has come down substantially as European breeding matured, following the same curve as Harpactira pulchripes and Grammostola pulchra before it. The pattern is consistent enough to be predictive: a striking South American species enters at a high price, holds for three to five years on thin supply, then halves. Timing that curve is most of what separates a good buy from a bad one in this hobby.
