Genus Lasiodorides

New World 3 species

Peruvian terrestrials, large, and consistently overshadowed by the Brazilian giants they resemble. L. polycuspulatus and L. striatus are the traded species.

They reach six or seven inches, grow at a reasonable rate, take food readily, and have urticating hairs they will use. Temperament sits between skittish and defensive. Nothing about keeping them is difficult.

Peruvian material moves more freely than Brazilian, so supply mixes captive-bred with occasional imports. This is the same value proposition as Vitalius: a genuinely large New World terrestrial for very little money, priced below better-known relatives for reasons that have to do with name recognition rather than the animal.
