Genus Lyrognathus

Old World 2 species Lyrognathus — commonly said as ly-ROG-nuh-thus

Montane Asian tarantulas out of Malaysia and northeast India, and a genus that almost nobody keeps relative to how available it periodically is.

Moderate size, fossorial, and from elevation, which again means cooler than the tropical default. L. giannisposatoi and L. robustus circulate. Old world temperament, no urticating hairs, and a threat display they will use.

Supply is a mix of European breeding and irregular Malaysian material, and demand is thin. This is a genus where nothing about the market is driven by the animal's qualities. It is driven by obscurity, and that produces a durable discount rather than a temporary one.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
