Genus Stichoplastoris

1 species

Central American tarantulas from Costa Rica and its neighbors: moderate terrestrials that the hobby encounters mainly as locality-labeled singles rather than an established trade.

They are New World animals with urticating hairs, keeping to the regional standard: moderate humidity, substrate depth for burrowing when young, a hide later. Temperament in the sparse keeper record runs quicker than the placid Central American stereotype suggests.

Costa Rican export restriction means captive descent only, and the genus's obscurity keeps those lines a handful of keepers deep. Species identification at the listing level rests on locality words and provenance. The structural note is the familiar one for blank spots on the map: single-seller prices carry almost no information, the described names are the only firm ground, and early buyers are supplying the hobby's knowledge rather than drawing on it.

Rarity BETA Rarity is supply, and only supply: the tier is how many sellers have ever carried a species, and for a single seller, how many separate listings. Price is not part of it, and neither is how recently it appeared. Tiers are given to tarantula species only.
